Words & Other Absurdities is about experiential dissonance. Struck by the weight of a system dependent on a staunch adherence to bureaucratic exactitude, and the shallow comfort it provides some while extracting it from others. The posters implements a similarly disjointed affect by combining text taken from conversations with friends, and component parts of imagery one might expect to find in a stereotypical motivational poster. Shortcuts such as rainbows, mythical or mythologized animals, and a vibrant color pallets are used to overwhelm the reality of the landscape in front of the viewer. The sound piece, designed to be heard in tandem, incorporates a bodily time keep that at time flows with the pace of its environment while also exacerbating a feeling of unease.
